Check the resistance of the caps and it should be around 10K ohms. Note the readings and mark each one as there can be variations.
Ckeck the resistance of the secondary windings of the coil by attaching the meter to the ends of the leads 1 and 4 and then 2 and 3. It should be between 12 to 18K Ohms. Note the readings.
Match the caps to the coils to give as close as possible over all resistance for both coils and caps together, after you screw the caps and coil leads back together. Before putting the caps and leads back together spray WD40 or equivalent into the leads. (Stops corrosion)
For example if one coil reads 15kOhm, the other reads 16 KOhm and plug caps read 9K, 9K, 9K and 10K then put the two 9s on the 16k coil and the 9k and 10K on the 15K coils.
I presume you have new plugs. The correct plugs for Ireland and the UK is the CR8E or CR8EIX plugs, I personally prefer the IX.
Remove the connection to the primary windings of the coil and spray with WD40 or its equivalent and put them back. Do this for all the connection in the box under the tank also as you have the tank raised and the fuel pump connection also.
Set the TPS to the the 5000 on the rev counter but as close to moving to the 10000 side rather than the 0 side.If you move the throttle when doing the test it should go straight to 10000 off the idle position. If you cannot get the adjustment right then the TPS is faulty.
Must write a post on this some other day after what I discovered when my own TPS when high resistance.
Good post. After having three sets of carbs and an Air filter change on the bike and it's still not running correctly, I think it was time to look at the problem elsewhere.....as in the electrics and spark. What you gave him to check there....Well....That should keep him out of the Pub for Paddy's Weekend!!
