Anyway what i did notice while pressing the starter button trying to start it on the dash there is a light with a picture of an engine, in yellow.

Now when it would not start this was flashing , and now its decided to behave all of its own accord when i press the starter this yellow engine light stays lit until it fires,,then goes out,,

So the question is does anyone know what this indicates, the yellow engine light flashing while pressing the starter and it wont start? Sad

I looked through the service manual, but can't see anything about the MIL flashing / cycling at start up.  On a car it would probably be linked to a sensor failure or open circuit in the emissions control systems.

Is your lambda sensor connected?  is the air intake sensor connected? you could check this by pressing select and seeing if the temperature readout changes to A and gives ambient temperature.  Maybe an injector or coil is going open circuit at start up.

It's a shame bikes don't use OBD2, as these sorts of faults would be easier to get to the bottom of.  It also possible that the battery is on the way out, and that emissions control systems are being cycled at start-up to reduce battery load (some cars used to ork like this).

Is the bike going to diagnostic mode at all?  the fault code table is on the american site.
