Had a similar problem on the ten 1 last year that turned out to be a knackered ignition. I was convinced it wouldn't start when hot only but it just turned out that way to start with as it gradually got worse.
That's not what I think your problem is, but just to show. Don't get fixed idea in your head and make symptoms fit it like I did LOL. Took me ages to find the real problem because I was sure it was something else.
Have also known the old hard plastic plug caps on bikes crack due to moisture freezing. Then they run fine cold but play up hot as it expands the crack.
But as I don't know the gen 2 I have no idea on the cap type but I doubt they use those as they seem to favour rubber now.
Yes gen2 is COP, so not HT leads to give probs.
