sump bolt probably ur best option, when the oil level is right you can put the bike on the kickstand and take off the clutch housing and the oil wont even spil on the ground.......iv done it. so getting it out of the filler hole u would have to lay the bike on the ground and then lift it even more to get the oil out, but u risk damage to the levers fairings handlebars wingmirrors pegs and more :eek .
there is also an oil gallery bung in the block but u dont want going near that, could cause more trouble than its worth.
just get someone to sit on the bike for u, to keep it at the right level, have the bike warm but let the oil come back down from the cylinders( a minute or 2) the put ur socket or spanner on the drain bolt, open it for a second and then close all the time keeping an eye on the oil level, having the bike on the centerstand wont work and will give wrong reading. probably a load of bullshit but hope it helps all the same, just remember cold oil moves slow
