Common enough problem, I first came accross this on a Fazer some years ago, the owner was complaining about the 20 Quid cost to replace it, despite telling him it was illegal to ride without a working speedo.
I solved both problems by washing the parts in thinners and gluing the tabs back on with superglue.
Lasted 4500miles until he broke it again putting the wheel back on after getting a puncture.
I have superglued a few since and there are still good. Worth a try if you have all the bits
