I have done close to 10k miles on motorway with a standard (el cheepo) Lidl tank bag with magnets - just the magnets and one strap keeps it in place and it's still in pretty decent shape, although I may not get too much more than another 10k out of it.
The other thing that I find exceptionally useful is the cargo net - I have carried 10-15 kg bag of grocery, tripods, oddly shaped bags and objects like helmets, downpipes (!!) etc over the rear seat with a strong cargo net - again mostly on motorways! Fazer is my work horse..!
