Brasso

Brasso is a harsh cleaning liquid with abrasive particles in it that strip the top layer of the surface away, it will probably clean your metal up but the new surface will be completely exposed. Might be alright if you were going to relacquer the metal after cleaning but I'd test it before you do the full lot cos it might stain the surface. Would probably be a good idea to take the rubbers off your pegs as well seeing as it has a reasonable amount of solvent in it that could eat them.
