As any ex squadie will tell you yes it will give a great shine on un lacquered alloy - but once you start you will spend the rest of your life re-polishing it , as what the polish does is remove the protective coating of oxide that makes the metal look dull.
However if masochism is your bag and you want shiny metal work ( I feel you pain as I also own an old BSA with stupid amounts of chrome) you may find Autosol paste is better for the job as it is easier to use and control the amount you apply as too much brasso and you will spend hours buffing before you see a shine.
