A very experienced racer/mechanic who's tuning work is feautured in Performance Bikes magazine told me that shorter "stubby" cans have the effect of reducing midrange. IF that's the case, it seems to be at odds with all the efforts of installing Ivan's Kit and going to the trouble of shaving bits off the airbox intakes, etc, only to throw power away elsewhere.
