It's probably more accurate to say that 20mm off each end (40mm total) is the most you can remove without running into problems with the switchgear position relative to the initial bend in the bar.
I have shoulders like a pre-war Tizer bottle (with short arms and long pockets
) so I find the 20mm option works best for me.
Burly chaps may prefer the wider size.
