Darrsi - It's not the speedo that gives out the error code, its the TPS which monitors the connections and displays the error via the rev counter
This is direct from the manual as I had this issue, the most common cause is broken lugs as most have already suggested, especially if you've just had the wheel off.

Granted its worth shopping around and checking Fowlers but at least it helps to know what you are after
