Part worn tyres,would you use them??

Well i know it's down to people's own preference,i wouldn't put on used brake pads or used front tyre  :eek  but as my bike is my only transport i am trying to stay within a budget (minimum wage sucks) so i need to make savings somewhere?? I have bridgestone bt021's on my bike so i'm looking at about £125 inc fitting for a new rear tyre which'll last 5000ish miles? as where if i got some decent part worn's i could save money & get more mileage (maybe)??
