personally I change down as I slow don't change down before as if you need to speed up you then have to change back up and maybe get the wrong gear for the speed you are travailing at. Or you have not slowed down enough for the dear you have selected let the clutch out and lock the wheel or rev the tits of the engine. I do change down very rapidly but only when I am shedding speed equally rapidly but keep an appropriate dear for the speed IMHO
