If you do decide to go for a Fazer for your first 'big' bike then you won't go wrong. Take time to get used to it as the change from a 125 is pretty awsome, especialy further up the rev range (6'000 +).
Mileage not too important if you find one that has been well looked after, serviced etc. One with a few mods will save your pocket, if you go for the earlier model (square headlights) ask if the headlight mod has been done.
You might find a good one on here that you can ask about as more than likely other members will know the bike, they are a great bunch on here.
I see what others mean about starting smaller but a bike will only be as fast and dangerous as YOU make it ! Going straight to a fazer would eliminate buying and selling another bike plus you will be 'starting' with a bike that may well do you for years
