if you are careful you should be able to remove the heated grips and re-use them,i did this when i changed the handlebars on my old zrx1100.It will probably depend on what type of glue(?) was used when you originally put them on.
I have heated grips and handguards fitted as i found that each on their own left certain parts of my hands cold but together eliminated most of the cold.
