plus 1 for the above, mine stuck open once would not exactly say gutless (after all it is a 1000cc machine) but I was having to use the gears of all things!! Once up to speed of course 
Once the valve had been stripped cleaned and regreased the bike was once more alive below 5000 rpm and I could go back to being a lazy b*gger
If you can keep itin the system and service every year it will make the bike the ace machine we all love and find hard to find a newer alternative.
