Pitting will mean a MOT failure the tricky bit is how much is too much, some pitting can be picked up on the latest brake testing machines and shows up as a warped disc!

As with most things MOT it's up to the discretion of the tester, if they want to screw you for some work they could well fail it/them in the hope you will get them to fix it and they earn out of it.  >:
