Don't get me going on batteries LOL.
I have had at least one a year and once it was 2 in a year.
Mine I know is from lack of use. Like you its stored outside all year round and is only taken for a ride when I can afford fuel. Which is a lot less than I would like. So it may get used every day for a week or not used for a month.
Each year around mid winter or early spring the battery dies.
I now have fitted a glass matt battery. It's only been on a few months so far, but has a much higher initial turnover speed than any other batteries I have tried. It is also MENT to last better in cold weather than gel types. We shall see.
