Good thing I dont worry about "street cred" as I drive a Fiat Panda-basically the thinking mans version of the 500c and about £3K cheaper!
Cheap to insure-even in city, £30 road tax, 60mpg on motorway with good headroom-so good in fact that Fiat had to spoil it by bringing out a new version thats larger & a lot dearer. The money I save on running this pays for my fun-time on the Fazer.
Interesting theme though as I often wonder what motivates people to buy certain cars-Image? Ego? Fear? Self-worth? There are definitely stereotypes.
Observation in Birmingham:-the number of Mums on the school run driving massive 4 x 4s when they cant see over the dash & have to have radar type reversing aids. I wonder how bike riders are perceived by motorists-when I rode my friends YBR 125 on L-plates I was amazed how I was treated with contempt as the cagers desperately tried to overtake me when I was "making progress" @ the speed limit for the roads I was using. Funny this doesnt happen when theyre looking @ a fat rear tyre & sports can!
