Just to add my tupence ha'penny worth(?) I've had my 04 gen 1 from new and when I replaced my C and S the front had a plastic insert in it. That said the it showed little wear and the chain was only about 1cm longer than the replacement one. Never noticed any increase in noise given that the repalcement frnot sporocket was par of a DID kit with no plastic bit and I ride with a open helmet (!) Today I rode with a full face helmet and ear plugs and was a bit scared by the extra 10 mph corner entry speed!! Then again could get used to it
