clicking pump after carb rubber change?

sounds to me like you have mistaken the fuel inlet from the filter/fuel pump for a breather hose. There is a rubber pipe that comes from the centre of the carb bank, usually covered with a reinforcing spiral of black plastic, that needs to be connected to the fuel pump. If this is not done then the pump will keep clicking when you turn the ignition. From memory there are only two breather hoses that come out the bottom of the carbs.
