Well if you look at the picture I found a drill bit that fit nice and snug in the hole. I have quite a few odds and ends from various bikes and one rear wheel spindle had a perfect size thread to fit in the flywheel, which is all th regular tool is really. I should have cut it down really but thought I'd try it first. The socket extendeer levers off the insert bit and the spindle to hold the flywheel still and the only other thing I did was to heat up the flywheel with a hot air gun before cracking it off.


It came off pretty easily...

Thanks - I had the basic mechanical interpretation right but the rear wheel spindle was a nice touch.  You did well to get that off without more hassle.
