Had mine go on my old 600, it was when chain snapped and it took the clutch actuator out.
The seals are really cheap and easy to replace.
I had the clutch side casing split off as well at the time, so was able to gently remove the gear selector and prise the seal out.
It's not a big job, don't worry too much about it being a nightmare repair, it isn't! :thumbup
