Good question Slim Ted.
I have just sold my fzs600 after 12 years of happy ownership. After all the reviews on Fazer 1000 v the newer FZ1 I decided on getting a gen 1. However, after a test ride on a 4500 mile 04 bike in v g c, I didn't really go wow and it didn't turn in very well . Not sure what I expected from a 7 year old bike but after looking at a few, ended up having a test ride on an 09 fz1 and was converted.
As stated above make sure you test ride and don't be in a hurry. Letting go a really nice fzr600 is hard make sure the replacement warrants the additional outlay v expectation or keep both if you can stretch the finances
