Its comforting to see the universal affection felt for marco, his racing was adventurous, daring , even crazy at times...but in an age of "dull" winners , he was such a breath of fresh air. I am utterly sad we will never get to see the full fruition of his talent and personality. Make no bones about it , his departure is a great loss to moto GP, which IMO is so teetering on the brink of almost absurdity( only honda are ever winning, and others are on verge of pulling out ! ) that this could have very far reaching consequences for the sport.
Its 8 yrs since the tragic loss of Kato, but somehow this loss seems so much closer to home, aye even to the nub of why I ride bikes and love watching racing. If Rossi were to quit ... feck it could kill moto GP as we know it .People will no doubt take their places, but the soul and mass popularity of moto GP is in danger of being lost. If ever moto GP needs a full grid, its gotta be now ...I know stoner and pedrosa have talent , but they just dont have any cult following like rossi and simo. With Lorenzo out ...TBH the moto GP is fast becoming a farce...a honda test race...no competition. Its odd since 2 yrs ago, it looked like honda were a spent force !
I cant quite take in all the other injured riders too , over the last couple of weeks...it almost makes me wonder if the moto GP calender is too taxing ?? ... mark marques crashes into willarot, spies goes down, lorenzo takes a silly tumble, bradley smith crashes out , terol has heat exhaustion....now this tragedy . Its a fecking lot of crashes and bad injuries in quite a short space of time ???
