You haven't been using oil with 'friction reducing agents' have you ?? :eek
Its not the fact that its "car" or "bike" oil that matters, its whether it contains Moybdenum sulphide or PTFE shreds.
"GTX Magnatec", for example is bad. Regular GTX is fine as long as its the right viscosity (10/40 or similar).
This was burned into my memory at age 17 after spending a day scrubbing my BSA bantam clutch plates in parrafin with a tooth-brush after foolishly adding molyslip to its gearbox oil.
