Finally got around to fitting the 758's which I've only had on the shelf for almost two years lol.
Going out for the obligatory blast and see what the difference is.

I fitted a pair of the new Avon Spirit ST's last week - they supercede the 3XM Storm, which I always felt was a good all rounder.
So far, these seem better - only time and miles will tell. Big Grin

You picked a good day for a ride out for sure. Had planned on going to Eastbourne for the air show, but a couple of unfinished projects needed finishing…………or they’d never get done.

Would you believe it. R/H fork seal blew at some point! Brakes started to become ineffective, which alerted me to a problem.
Seems to be a reoccurring fault with the r/h fork, so I've order a complete kit, new stanchions, seals etc. Ahhhhhhhhhh!
I'll live with it for a couple of weeks - Ogri Rally this coming weekend, so nothing, absolutely nothing is going to get in the way.

What a bummer, still good job the mighty thou has one of the best rear brakes out there. Just have to take it easy and enjoy your weekend. Mind you, going to the Ogri Rally, there’ll always be Malcolm and Mitzi to give you a hand??

The weather yesterday throughout the south was outstanding. I certainly picked a good day for my usual day trip to Cornwall. At exactly 07:10 my Versys 1000 mounted pal and I rolled out of the Shell garage in South Godstone, tanks brimmed with 99 octane. The planned route was a quick cross country dash from Surrey to Sussex, to pick up the A272 at Cowfold. The section of this road either side of Loomies has been spoilt with the addition of average speed cameras. Not a problem if you've time on your hands, but with a full days riding ahead, valuable time was lost. Will stick to the A30 next time. After skirting Winchester, we picked up the A30 just before Stockbridge, where the River Test flows under the high street. Quite often the trout can be seen competing with the ducks for bread thrown in by the tourists, but today, no action, all was quiet.
Salisbury and Shaftesbury came and went, before stopping at Chard for petrol. A quick cuppa from a roadside food van, then after skirting Exeter we were Dartmoor bound, stopping for a late breakfast at Moretonhampstead. An hour later two pints of Tribute were being poured in the Tamar Inn, on the riverbank just in to Cornwall.
A 90 minute chill out was soon over and it was time to mount up and head for home. Because we were about an hour behind the normal schedule I had to miss out a return via Dartmoor, and opted for the A30 back to Honiton, and on to Chard for our last petrol stop. Possibly because we were later than usual, the road seemed totally empty at times, allowing for a good pace to be maintained. A visor change and coffee stop at Popham coincided with a route change for the final leg of the trip. I had planned to stay with the A30 to Camberly, but Basingstoke can take an age to get through, so opted for a quick blast up the M3 to junction 5, and was home in an hour and a quarter. The trip meter showed 486.4 of our lovely English miles........apart from the potholes, speed bumps, average speed cameras, normal cameras, traffic police, newly added double white lines, and anything else you can think of?

I *finally* got around to balancing the throttle bodies and putting the bike together, so I actually got to ride the damn thing!

The good news is that it goes (and stops!) properly, unfortunately after a little check ride pootling around the streets near my home, I decided to get out on the road, but when I got to the top of Portsdown Hill, I was greeted by the sight of some very dark storm clouds on the other side and decided that another day might be a better choice...

I, at last, managed to find time to go out on that check ride (see above) that was rained off and the sun even came out a little bit today!

So after taking one of my favourite routes out of Portsmouth, through World's End I got onto the A32 and then A339 up towards Basingstoke, but then turned off down towards the Candovers and another lovely little back road (Spiers Lane) to Alresford and the A272.

Alas, as I've mentioned before, thanks to too many idiots hooning along that road the A272 now has average speed cameras on much of it, but I still managed a couple of progressive overtakes after traffic had slowed me down sufficiently.

I stopped off at Loomies/ Moto Cafe for a burger, then back down the A32 and World's End again before getting home with 100 or so miles under my wheels Smile

It was a nice sunny Autumn day down here in Portsmouth, so I decided it was time to add a few more miles to exceed the paltry 189 I did last year...!

Looking through my Sat Nav routes, I found one heading out up the A32 and taking a turning that cuts off the corner by Loomies to go out on the A272 (avoiding the 50mph average speed section), then the B2141 and ending up at Goodwood Aerodrome.

Things started well, but, unfortunately, there had been a major accident on the A32 which meant I had to divert around it and Sally Sat Nav started taking me along some tiny lanes which may have been nice at other times of the year, but now had big lines of gravel and leaf litter down the middle, meaning I was having to take them *very* carefully!

Thankfully I eventually got back onto decent roads and when I was on the B2141 I could hear this deep booming sound ahead of me and I caught up with four V-Twins out for a ride.

They were stuck behind a car doing about 45 in a 60 limit and seemed to show no inclination to pass, so a few quick tweaks of the throttle got me past the lot and I made progress to Goodwood.

Regrettably, the Cafe there seems to have greatly reduced their menu from what I could see, so I had a quick pee and decided to check out the return Route I stored.

As I was doing this, the four bikes I previously encountered pulled into the car park!

The return trip was, thankfully, less eventful than the outward journey, although I've found another nice piece of road which used to be fun has been spoiled by making it 30 mph for a large part which was disappointing.

But eventually it went back to National Limit, so I enjoyed the rest of the ride home.

Shame the 272 got the average speed cameras, must be over two years now. Used to be one of my favourites when in that area.
Had cataract op yesterday so no bike riding for a while, but the big plus will be no more glasses when I’m back on two wheels. Can’t wait.

Too many idiots hooning it around and pi$$ing off the locals with loud exhausts Sad

A lot of other roads have around there have had 50 or even 40 limits imposed too.

What did I do with my Fazer today?  I rode it home from the bike shop :-)

Got it home and removed the SHAD top box rack.  Top box catch not working, so had to unscrew it, slow going with the slightly rusted nuts/bolts.
Money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys beer, and that helps!

Hope the recovery goes well, Robbo. Yeah, I'll check the calendar, I've not done one for a while, so if I'm free, count me in. I'll see if we can get some LOFOs out, too.

Not my Fazer, but I pity the poor bugger I saw on the A27 earlier today on a Boxeye when it was absolutely pi$$ing down with rain... Sad

Hope it wasn't anyone in here!
