FZ1N exhaust brackets - one or two?

My bike came with only the right hand bracket fitted and I purchased a used left hand bracket to install but when it arrived I had second thoughts about fitting it as it is such a heavy lump of steel (through necessity as it also provides a mount for a centre stand).
Question is should it be fitted or is it only needed with a centre stand a'la FZ1S?

Cleaned and painted the bracket.  Took the opportunity to weigh it. More than 1/2 kilo.
Anyone any thoughts as to whether it should be fitted?
