Little Donkey on life support!
#1
Sooo, this may be the final nail for my little fazer AKA the golden donkey...

Oil return pipe on the front of the engine has burst, 3 or 4 pin holes in it.

I’ve managed to source one off eBay, so went to change it today.

Someone has already been there and rounded off the Allen screw in the middle of the pipe.

The access is shocking.... it’s an engine out job I’m guessing to even try to fix?!?

Has anyone managed to deal with this in situ???

Any chance that this would repair https://www.amazon.co.uk/Weld-8297-HighH...X6STP31EYD
Its the only thing I have found that has managed to stay ( so far 2 years ) on my own exhaust collector pipes section. Its sticks and is heat proof.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Try searching the forum for rounded screws ect as there are some good advice and techniques for solving.
My collector area - as you know is in sort of a hollow area shape so the putty has contact on loads of different sides and the cleaned up rust was rough which gave a grip surface.Your pipe is smooth so I would perhaps put a jubilee clip over the putty too. Maybe even a band of thin tin - like a car exhaust repair https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371663993702?...SwXTJbvxde . I have used gum gum on my collector without any clips due to the position but it fell off after a couple of months. But the JB weld - so far has been good.

Hi. Just a wee thought for you. Patience. If old pipe is completely gone, then no need for engine out.
Penetrating fluid all around bracket holding pipe.
Next use hacksaw blade to cut old pipe top and bottom of bracket. Just wrap hacksaw blade with plenty of tape and take time to cut of old pipe.
More penetrating fluid.
Now you should be able to get mole grips onto small bracket. Just try to move it remembering down helps more as you are trying to loosen allen screw.
Your just trying to loosen bracket between allen screw and head at this point. Even afew taps with long screwdriver but gentle taps.
More penetrating fluid.
Now hopefully you have this or borrow one. Dremel drill with small cutting disc. Just take time and cut slot in head off allen screw, for flat head screw driver.
Now all fingers crossed it should come out. Again penetrating fluid and a few gentle taps can also help.
You can use a small amount of heat but only small as the allen screw head at this point wont take much heat to break.

Failing the above ,, much the same ,, but just remove down pipes and youll get all access needed. But that means taking of those nasty exhaust nuts that snap those crap exhaust studs.  Engine out means exhaust off. Try to avoid this.

Sooo.... had a couple of days spraying PB Blaster on it.

Hammered in a Torx head, prayed to the 2 wheeled gods and crack!

Out it came.

New (old) pipe on within 10 minutes, quick oil service done too and the ‘Lil donkey is as good as gold!

New screw on order too...

Thanks for all the help and ideas...

Yup, and a deep breath needed too!

Glad the wee bike is back to full health, I got it as a stop gap 6 years now and it's just so good I've never got rid of it.

Just back from a weekend away on one of my others bikes - a Kawasaki H2 SX... and happy to just back on the ol' trusty Donkey to ride into work today... lol

I'm soo weird...  :rollin
