Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS!
I'd say it's good news all round that it has cooled down a bit, as judging by the news it seems the last few days of boiling hot weather has driven the Great British public completely off their rockers :rolleyes

Is always thus. Just look at previous pre Covid-19 years. The Spanish know what to do, have a snooze.

I went for a wee spin on the Beemer yesterday.  Exploring around Kingairloch and Morvern, looking out for old phone boxes.  Anyway on my way back hame I couldn't but help notice the number of so called wild campers, and yes their fires.  I headed down Glen Orchy (heading to Dunoon to avoid Loch Lomond), which often has a few folks camped at the side of the road, well it was just stuffed with campers - most of them with camp fires.  Which is fine, as long as its not during a dry spell (its been suitably wet recently), they have brought or built a proper fire pit and have their own firewood etc - all that seems doubtful going by the thick rancid smoke drifting down the glen.  I wouldn't be surprised if the whole shoreline down the River Orchy has been trashed.  Glen Etive will be the same, along with countless other beautiful spots across Scotland.  We've got a real problem now with so called wild camping now.

Did the North Coast 500 a couple of years ago, camping at official sites. So I follow the Facebook group.
This year it seems to have gone bonkers. Everybody is doing it. Lots of sites either full, or not opening toilet blocks.
So the result is masses wild camping (legit in most of Scotland) all round the route. Problem is the mess left behind. Do campers shit in the woods? They certainly do  :look

The country seems to be going crazy.  The Cumbrae ferry was suspended at the weekend due to extreme passenger volume.  70 parking tickets were issued on the road up Rowardennan, the single track road was effectively blocked.
As for camper vans etc, it doesn't help that councils have been penny pinching and closing numerous public toilets.

Hard won freedoms.  The rule of wild camping is to leave nothing but footprints - literally take your shit with you.  If you are camping for several days then bury your personal waste well away from waterways, and bag and take out any toilet paper you use.
Sadly I suspect many beauty spots will have been trashed at the weekend right across the country.  And it cannot continue like this.
As for those who 'wild camp' at the side of the A82, A84 and other busy roads - I just don't see the attraction.

Arseholes who don't understand the terms 'Mask' and 'face covering' The idiots who use a face mask as a chin hammock. Your feckin' great hooter is not supposed to be poking over the top of it.
Mankind will end with a whimper, not a bang.

Never underestimate the ingenuity of an idiot!

I see people walking around like that outside (looks stupid) but not like that in the shops. It's like they ar too lazy to take it of their ears and just slide it up for the next shop. The thing is they are scraping a wet mask up and down their face. Mine comes off the second I am out the shop.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
