Black Iron Pans

VNA enjoys time spent in the kitchen. Smile

After 5 years of regular use my 240mm non-stick frying pan has given up the ghost.  It’s been hanging in there for the last year or so.  They just don’t last. 

So my wok, we’ll it’s carbon steel, nothing much sticks to it, and anyway the finish is always recoverable.  Like my stainless pans it’s ancient and will see me out.

So has anybody dumped their non-stick frying pan in favour of something a little more old fashioned.  Thinking of trying a black iron frying pan - this maybe -  https://www.nisbets.co.uk/de-buyer-black...40mm/dl951

Or what about carbon steel?  Or should I just get another Teflon pan and just accept they don't last forever.

Mine lost its coating after a few years, I switched to stainless.
The only issue I have with big iron pans is the cartilage in my left wrist is in a similar state to the teflon on my old frying pan and holding anything heavy gets painful.

He’s a brilliant cook, but a bit of a knob.  Loves himself.

Frying with a stainless pans means loads of scrubbing.
The pan in the link is 1.2kg – doesn’t seem heavy.

I have a cast iron Skillet pan like this. It weighs a ton but I bought it to use in the oven.

Just under 32 quid.
It’s blued Iron which I’m hoping will help with seasoning.  I just want it as a general purpose frying pan.  Will see how it goes.  It’s only 2mm thick so shouldn’t be heavy to take too long to heat up.
