My bike is leaking something I'm not sure what
#1
Hi all,

I got a 2000 Fazer as my first bike and it seems to be riding okay. However everyt I finish a ride I notice this yellowish liquid dripping from some kind of pipe. It drips quite a lot after a long ride but not much at all after my 9 miles commute.

I also noticed a random black tube not attached to anything near it while looking at this, I've attached some pictures. I have a service booked in for 3 weeks time but I still need the bike to commute on in the meantime

Any ideas what it is and if I should be worried ?

Normal, they are the drains from the air box, the crankcase vent is directed back into the air box and will have oil vapour in it, some is drawn back into the engine and burnt and some collects in the air box, mix it with water draw in from the air and you get that oil water mix.In you case the pipes which direct down below the engine through a small one way filter seems to be missing. If all was intact you would never have seen it.
There are two drain holes on the air box if you look in under the carbs you will seem them that generally attach to a T piece. That pipe is propably the one that directs it down under the engine.
Left side is usually worse due to have the bike on the side stand and all the liquid drains to that side.

Have a look inside your air filter box, it could be full of gunk.

The fact it's got black carbs, means someones been playing  :rolleyes there a good chance they connected the drain hoses incorrectly.  I had bikes in that have had the tank filler drain plugged into the air box!

Is the bike using coolant?
