Was giving my car a bit of a service 'cause we're going away for a week and I noticed the fan belt was frayed and in a bit of a state to be honest ,I went and got one with the oil and filter and couldn't believe how long it was, 90 inches! that's 7ft 6" in old money!anyway I removed some trunking out the way to get a better look and this belt goes around that many pulleys and wheels etc it's a joke,I took a photo of the sequence and looked for an adjuster on the alternator like you normally would....,nothing! so I went on u/tube and found a video and there's a bolt under one of the pulleys that releases the tensioner and voila! the belt slips off easy peasy, then you just work out the right sequence and put the new belt on and at the end turn the bolt again and it automatically tensions it,from what I thought was going to be a nightmare turned out to be the easiest fan belt change I've ever done!My car is an old Merc diesel, just in case anyone has one. I love this trick for cleaning exhausts, wish I had learned about its years ago.

Rode the ZZR600 from the midlands to near Ghent in Belgium, Dover to Dunkirk ferry. Came back next day. 580 miles over the 2 days.

Oh, and it was 36 degrees as well!

Checked the plugs and set the tickover on my Virago 1100.
Just need to change the air filter and balance the carbs next to make sure it runs right and smooth.
Love the difference between the silky smooth turbine-like inline four on my Gen 1 thou and this "talkative" vee twin  :lol

More servicing on the Virago 1100.
New iridium plugs fitted, replaced the air filter and changed the shaft final drive oil.
Also extended my garden hosepipe to reach into the rear alley where my garage opens on to and gave it a good wash and then polished the painted bits with MER polish.
Came up a treat for a 21 year old bike.
Just got to change the engine oil and filter and balance the carbs now.

Forgot to mention I also bought a second hand Mustang seat from the USA for the Virago too.
Costing quite a few quid on postage (£70+) but the seat was cheap in the first place (£100) so, all in all, still a bit of a bargain.
Can't wait to get it and fit it.

Haven't heard of Mustang seats but I had a Corbin seat on an 1100 Honda a while back and when I came to buy another a few years later the build quality had drastically reduced, wouldn't go with them again. :thumbdown

Tell you what, never mind the post, that is one lovely seat! just looking at the make up of it it's better than a Corbin,on the underside where the mustang uses proper fixings Corbin uses staples which are ok in some applications but not where there's a lot of strain.I think you've done well there. :thumbup :thumbup

Finally, after a couple of issues with the guy selling it in the States, then it being held in customs until I paid an extra £50, the Mustang seat for the Virago 1100 has landed.

It's in really good nick considering its age and after a good scrub with vinyl cleaner and then a deep polish, it's come up a treat!!
