First ride on my MT09 since being rammed off it on a roundabout by a blind bitch in a Range Rover back in October 2018.
It was declared a category N write off which was a joke. Bought the salvage for £795 and spent less than £500 putting it right. The assessor put that the petrol tank wanted replacing but it was just a scuff from my boot, came off with a wet cloth, no dents or scratches, also said it wanted a complete replacement exhaust but it was just a few scratches on the cover, got an unmarked one off ebay for £25. Secondhand mirrors, both rider footrest assemblies, bar ends, a couple of indicators all in very good condition and that was it. Replaced the clutch and brake levers with spares that I still had left from my FZ1s, ( they are exactly the same ). Mot and a good checkover by Roseanne at Leeds Motorcycle MOT centre , would recommend her to anyone, and an oil change andcwas good to go. Bike looks and goes as good as it did before the ' incident ", and some compensation money sat in the bank earmarked for an old Japanese two stroke to relive my youth on ? Would have been back on bike sooner but after my knee injury was sorted my heart decided not to work like it should for a bit, then broke my right ankle when I fell whilst walking dog in the woods.

Would like to get a 1974 RD250 in blue, just like I had when I was 17. Failing that a YDS7 in gold , a mate had one and I always liked it. Then grow my hair back and lose 3 stone. New studs, nuts and gaskets ordered, so just waiting for the stud extractor I ordered, to arrive which won't be until after the weekend. Then hopefully remove the 2 studs that wouldn't come out with a bolt remover. Might try the Harpic trick to clean up the rest of the system. it really works just make sure you get the right one, the Power plus 10X one.

Yeah the Harpic 10x didn't do a bad job considering the system had been on there over 20 years. :thumbup

Took the Virago 1100 to Steel Horse Cafe near Abergavenny and met up with Paul (OGRI48) on his Fat Boy.
A great hour and a half or so spent drinking coffee, catching up and looking at the other bikes that had turned up 8) ![]()
