The end of the line.

Sadly it has been forced on me to give up riding and driving due to suffering a mini stroke which has caused permanent damage to part of my eyesight so no more riding or driving. I consider myself to be very lucky having only to have had a very limited outcome from the stroke unlike some of the other patients I saw when I was in hospital for two days.
As I have no longer any need for bikes and gear I will try and list all my gear and two bikes in the near future in the for sale section but anybody is interested before I will supply information on an individual basis.
Bikes Fazer 1000 2002 14.5k miles, Husky te410e project bike, boots tcx size 44, New Wolf gloves R600 medium.
There are other items including soft luggage I will do my best to list asap. Some are on ebay and gumtree at the moment, I am away for the first week of October so any deals will have to be quick or wait for my return.
I will miss the biking but reality is what it is so I have now excepted the life style change that has been forced on me. My next powered transport will possibly be an electric mountain bike depending if I am still able to ride a push bike. I am looking at the Haibike range so if anybody has experience of these sort of bikes or other makers models I would be most grateful for some unbiased information.
Please contact if you need any information or have any information.

Very sorry to hear you wont be motorcycling/driving any more.
One of my sons has owned 2 Haibikes from new. The first was fitted with a Bosch motor that failed after 5 years but they still replaced under warranty!
The second newer Haibike came with the Yamaha electric motor & had increased power & battery storage capability.
Both excellent "high end" componentry-hydraulic disc brakes etc etc.
Unfortunately some thieving scrote stole his later model from the Royal Mail depot where he works-very poor security provided there-even though he had chained it securely to bike rack. You have to remember that @ £2k these are highly desirable to lowlifes/druggies so remember to use good security if you have to leave unattended. I have ridden the Haibike and as an ex-cyclist was very impressed-the motor assistance is remarkable.
Good luck in the future-none of us knows whats round the corner so to speak

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, security was one of the problems that I thought i might come across if I made a purchase. I am looking at the entry level bike in the xduro range which is the hard seven with bosch electrics at around £2,500 its not cheap although some bikes are over 10k. I hope to visit our local stockist at the weekend to have a chat and sit on a few different models, I hope my knees and hips will allow me to at least climb aboard and see how they feel.
Cheers and thanks for the info.

All the best for the future fella.
A bad thing to happen, but like you say, other's have come out worse from strokes & good on you for looking to the future...
A pal of mine put his own electric mountain bike together & he learned a lot doing so...it does a (rather illegal) 40mph!  :eek ...I have ridden it & it is a blast! Big Grin
He had stuff built in California etc, but I think it came in within the sort of budget you are thinking about.
If you need any info, I'm sure he would be happy to oblige, let me know,
All the best to ya,
Andy W.

Thanks for your reply, I will let you know about the further information for a diy electric bike. I am visiting a local shop tomorrow to see if my joints will allow me to ride a push bike as its probably been over 30 years since I last rode one, they say you never forget how to ride but I fear my knees may have with the passage of time and metal from a previous accident.

Sorry to hear your news. Everything I have heard says that the bosch motor is the way to go.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

The husky is a TE 410 with electric start on a T plate. At present it has no spark and therefore is a project bike as it also needs a lot of other work to return it to road or track worthy condition. I would have completely stripped the bike to check, clean and lubricate everything. It will need tyres, chain and sprockets and some small parts like various fixings, I know the horn is missing also the pins that hold the rear pads in are also not there. I have checked some of the components but I suspect the new owner will like to recheck my work. At present it is partially stripped all the panels are off as well as the tank, seat and headlight unit. It has Beowulf twin cans and a huge workshop manual in loads of languages.
Photos are difficult to take at the moment due to the lack of room in my garage but I would try and move things about if anybody is really interested
The reason for sale is the same as stated in previous posts my inability to ride or drive in fact the dvla have completed their investigations and have asked me to surrender my licence so things have reached the finale.
If anybody is interested in viewing we are in Bristol, but I am away from Sunday 2nd October for a week so view this week or wait till after the 9th October. It is on sorn and obviously it will to be have to be put on a trailer or taken away in a van.
For any further info please reply or pm me.
