Hmmm,

So not much chance of a spring pre-reg nice big discount on an MT10 then?

When I took delivery of mine I was told if I ordered one now, I'd be getting a January next year delivery date. One bloke on the forum, ordered in June and now told November delivery for a Tech black model. Also talk of prices going up so getting some discount seems pretty optimistic.

Crying oot loud!

Yup weak pound post BREXIT is going to mean significant prices rises.

10 or 20% price rise unless the pound recovers?

:lol pretty sure it's nothing to do with brexit, just Yamahas strategy of limited supply against a high demand

Well yeah, but if the pound doesn't recover against recent significant falls (post BREXIT), then that means fewer yen per pound, which means a big price hike for the MT10 and frankly pretty much all imported bikes.

Not good.

I am thinking of a new bike next year.  Bought my FZS1000 new in 2004.

Fancy all sorts of things but MT10 is an attractive option, and looks reasonable value at 10,000 ish, but if it does up 10 or 20%.........

Its not just the value of the yen against the pound. You have to factor in the yen to euro (Yamaha European distribution centre in Holland) then the euro to £ for shipment to UK.
Have a feeling that bike manufacturers & importers/main dealers are using the Volkswagen Group model of building only against firm customer order to maintain profitability & avoid swamping market with unsold new bikes @ end of season which only ties up cash & in fact costs money.
Not good news for any potential buyers looking for "bargains".

Indeed Dave.  I was reading autoexpress online and they expect manufactuerers/importers etc to share the pain and not pass on the cost, but I figure - well how long will they do that for.  They are getting squeezed.

Who is the customer?  Is it the importer, the dealer or us at the end of the line?

I just bought a Skoda a few months back, pre reg, 4mnths old, 22 miles on the clock and over 7k off the list price.  If VAG were running the model you refer to, would I have bought it - no.

It looks like Yamaha have another winner with the MT10.  Part of that is the price.  Sure they don't want loads of stock lying around, but you can bet right now they'll do everything they can to churn out as many MT10's as they can.

Anyway time will tell with prices, but a strengthening pound would help.

Meanwhile we'll just have to put up with Dazza teasing us with his reports of what looks like a great bike.
