How to remove a baffle?

Hi everyone!


I've got a 2000 FZS600  and wondered how to remove the baffle??


I looked up on youtube to find a video but... nil.


I searched (quickly) on this forum to no avail...


Any suggestions?

If it's a factory silencer, you probably can't. If it's aftermarket, it's usually held in by a small screw accessed through a small hole.

Very unusual to be able to remove a Japanese made oem silencer. Best you buy an aftermarket silencer with a removable baffle.

OEM silencers/exhaust system are actually the best you can get for the bike running wise, but i couldn't hack the whiney gearbox noise so had to get somethinga bit more audible.

Probably down to years of their research and development department.


It's what they do!


I've had my bike dyno'd a few times and the fella who does it, who i can only describe as a master wizard with race bikes, told me so, so whatever he says totally trumps me.
He said he's yet to see an aftermarket exhausted Fazer run better than a stock one!


Too quiet and irritatingly whiney for me, but i do still have it in the garage........and the exhaust as well.   
But unfortunately the downpipes, along with a few other major parts, were made on the quick with materials that were as soft as shite and prone to decay, which is a real shame.
One day i might refit it and try it out for old times sake. (not really)

It can be done but its a not of hassle, you need to disc cutter the end of the can off. you can then gut tthe internals of the pipe and tig weld the end back on. I picked up a FZS that someone had done this to recentley and it sounded awesome.... Had fuck all midrange power but sounded awesome. For the hassle I would just buy an aftermarket end can and link pipe.

somewhere on the forums i have pics of my old oem silencer, i ripped the pipe out the end and it made it soo much better!


screwdriver and hammer multiple holes round it sill they join up make them bigger! then do the same to the next one down...


drill a hole through the pipe at the outlet (the inner pipe ) get something in there and get twisting to break the inner weld.


keep going at it for ages..


the tube has a flange on it lower down so once the welds broken it wont just come straight out... do not let go of the middle pipe..


use the pipes movement to get it out the way a little, make more holes in the next chamber to open up the gap around the middle pipe and then keep tugging at the middle pipe till it comes free..
