I thought AJS/ Matchless as soon as I saw the "jam pots" AJS was sold in 1931 and was used Matchless and AMC which held other names like James, Francis Barnnett etc, AJS/Matchless were the same bikes with different tanks, seats, pipes etc.
I owned a few of the singles 250s 350s and 500s these went from £5 upwards in the 60's (a weeks wage when I started working age 15) I also had a 650cc twin in the 70s.
Nice pic. My mum used to go on the back of her cousins bike, not sure what bike it is. My mum is in the rider seat her friend is pillion of this pic.
