Wasdale today:

Crap light again. I did linger for a couple of hours in the hope that the sun might break through, as it was brighter towards the coast, and that seemed to be heading in the right direction, but not a chance. Hard to capture the sheer scale of the Wastwater screes, but they surely look spectacular as you approach:

I camped here for a night when I did my epic fell walking trip, and in the evening was privileged to watch a spectacular weather phenomenon. From a clear blue, sunny sky, a band of cloud swept up along the lake at about half the height of the screes until it stretched the full length of the lake. I'm sat there outside my tent watching this cloud just metres away on the other side of the lake. The cloud developed all the way up to the mountains, clear above and clear below, and as the sun began to set, turned a beautiful bright salmon pink, with the pale blue sky above and the bases of the sunlit mountains below. And just as quickly as it developed, it all disappeared again to leave the stars shining in an otherwise empty night sky. I'll never forget it.

Yewbarrow; something about the shape of this fell from this viewpoint that mesmerises me, don't know what it is:

Messed about with various compositions while I was there despite the grey skies; this one not great compositionally, but at least the cloud had some definition:

Somewhere up in that ^ clag is Scafell, but never mind that; look how clean the bike is!  Smile Which didn't last long, as further along towards Wasdale Head, there was loads of run off from the fells across the road  Sad

Feet-wet time:

Hey, and why didn't someone tell me about that brilliant stretch of the A5086 from about Deanscales down to Frizington?! Proper little rollercoaster with a good surface, and I encountered bugger-all traffic on it too. A perfect stretch for the little Striple to show what it could do  :evil

The road down to Ambleside from kirkstone pass is called the struggle it's great when you get a clear run down weeling  and jumping the crests

Ah yes, I had forgotten it's name. But foc hacking down it wheelieing and jumping the crests!  :eek  You have to pull in for cars in some places, sheep all over, bumpy and steep, dry stone walls brushing your elbows...the list of hazards never ends!
