I was just wondering, what did you guys use to blank off the coolant outlets on the rad and the thermostat housing? At the moment I've just linked the small hose from the thermostat back to the rad, but I'd rather blank them off. I was wondering if  the vacuum caps on the carb rubbers would be OK to blank off the coolant outlets, ie one on the thermostat housing outlet and the other on the rad. Anyone done that?

Yup the vacuum caps fit fine I think I paid about  £5 for a pair plus a couple of the clips that you use with them. I used a smidge of high temp silicone on the radiator and thermostat spigots then slid the caps on followed by the clips.  Looks a lot tidier than the hose which is quite tight if I remember.
