Had to go there at night for work once, got picked up from the airport and dropped off at an ex Russian army camp around 12am, then taken to my hotel, slept, then back on the plane again first thing in the morning. :look

went a few years back and a lovely City, did you visit the building in the background of your photo.......from memory its the old Cathedral that the Nazis took over as a base and if you google something like Nazi shot in Prague ......it takes you to footage of one of the top Nazis being shot dead in a hit by the resistance who were working with SOE (happened at the corner at the bottom of the hill leading up to the cathedral
The repercussions were horrendous and the gerries are still hated to this day in Prague beers is wonderful, none of the added shit that gives you a big 'ed in the morning, one thing you must watch out for tho......if travelling on bus/tram etc then you must buy a ticket first. we got stung for an on the spot fine of about £25 and the inspector looked every inch a copper......he asked for ID then nabbed me passport :eek but I soon nabbed it back ![]() was going to chin him and do a runner but I had a pair of cammo shorts on and the rugby playing black lad I was with......well, we'd have stuck out like dogs bollox and soon been picked up, so grudgingly we'd paid up. Found out later its the same for the locals, no messing about....no ticket equals big fine. They seem to hate beggars too and move them on/give them grief.....they make them beg by kneeling down on the floor and looking at the ground, a bit like seeing Muslims praying but the beggars cannot come up (seen a lot of it on the bridges over the river, where most of the tourists head to)

Yep you buy the ticket first from a newsagents or machine and it then has to be validated by putting it in the time stamp machine on the tram, you then have either 30min of travel or 90 mins depending on the ticket price. So the ticket buys you time and not a journey.
The inspectors are very low paid and rely on commission, we were about to get off when two italian tourists got on without a ticket and asked us what they should do as they thought they bought them onboard, because we were just getting off we gave them out tickets so they were covered. The fine is 800 KC -as you say about £25. Yep been to the cathedral which is within the castle complex and travelled down that road in a tram with the sharp bend where the assignation took place, some of that footage was at the main castle entrance where I stood for a tourist photo. I did a lot of research before we went but strangely didn't come across any ww2 info. Thanks for the utube link, I only wish I could of found it before I went.

Was last there about 10 years ago - took customers for a weekend.
To be honest it was shit. There were prostitues and drug dealers targeting us at every corner, following us along the streets and pestering us the whole time. The "restaurants" in the centre seemed pretty poor and to be honest, the beer wasn't great and the whole place seemed seedy and becoming run-down. Maybe it's better now, but in the early 2000's it just seemed to be going downhill.

Im disappointed I didn't get any of that, It must be you and the way you look :lol I think a lot must have changed in 10 years we found it clean and we felt safe. I read up before we went and there was a lot of talk about dodgy taxis and also about how the authorities are clamping down on them, so maybe they have done a lot of cleaning the city up and the taxis are the last thing to be sorted.
