I just bought a Fazer 600 at the weekend for £100. W reg but says on V5 year of manufacture 2000. Any Fazer experts out there can confirm year. Its an import and has been sitting outside for a year or two after it threw a chain. Ordered a few bits to get it going again. Rear sprocket (came with carrier) Clutch push rod which had been snapped by the chain coming off. This was the main reason it was left sitting as the clutch did not work. £17 for that so cheap fix. Just need to get the old one out!!!
I took off the sprocket cover with the cutch actuator and it was well corroded inside and I could not undo the screws. New one ordered. Less than £20.
It will need a clutch lever as it snapped, a rear tyre, a chain (already have one) and I'll replace the oil, the filters (air and oil) and plugs as a matter of course. Ill probably replace the brake pads and also the standard rubber brake hoses with stainless steel braided. Brake fluid and coolant.
Only thing I am struggling with so far is the headlights. Its an import so I was hoping to pick up a set of UK spec ones but so far no luck on ebay (just started looking TBH) Previous owner had stuck on some sort of deflector. Might be a cheap fix in the short term if I can not come up with anything else. Not going to spend huge sums of money on it as its a second bike. First love is my XJR1300
Biggest worry is the state of the downpipes and more worryingly the studs are VERY corroded. Might just leave well alone!!!
Anything else I should be looking out for??
I've a set of lights you can have them for £25 delivered if your interested

Hiya Ferg, damn good bargain for £100.
A W reg is definitely a 2000 model so you should have a digital clock on the display along with the bigger 20 litre tank.
Try this link for a discount on HEL braided hoses http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,11921...#msg131310
I'm sure a few of the others will drop some links in on their troubles they've had with the exhaust studs - probably a good shout to leave them be.
Loads of help on this site, probably the best forum I've been on to be honest. Good luck with getting the bike back on the road. Good luck with getting the bike back on the road and keep us updated with the project. :thumbup

Wezmoto lines at 45.95 inc p n p if that offer has finished
Theres also someone ebay selling braded lines with plated steel ends for about £12 each. Obviously they would take more looking after and they're not sheathed but great price

I'm only kidding, you can all write dose or Frazer as much as you want.
Does remind me of a joke though.

Fixed that for you. If you're going to attempt to take the exhaust off cut the nuts with a dremel and soak them in penetrating oil before you turn them

I also used a small cold chisel w/ a hammer to turn the nuts by putting the tip of the chisel in the dremel cut. Seemed to break the rust seal better than a slow spanner turn.
