speeding?
#1
Has anyone been done for speeding by the police helecopter?
I was followed into Helmsley this afternoon, don't know when it started following us but I was playing catch up as I had got caught up in traffic? I was sticking to the limit in the town but before that I may have been a tad over 60 or even 2 tads?
when I was in the market place I could hear it above me and all the people were looking skywards.
It watched us park up then flew off, a few minutes later a police car arrived but didn't stop. now what I want to know is do they have to tell you at the time or can they sent a summons through the post. I think it would be a court job, well you know why, would like a first hand reply as when you google it some say they do and some say they dont? thanks. P.S. you can send me a PM if you wish

the white squares on the road are so the operator in the helicopter can time you from square to square, he can then accurately calculate your speed between these fixed points on the road.
He then calls up the nearest police car to get your plate number, yes you can be done with this method.
Scary innit.

Oh blimey ! That's how they do it. is there special warning signs or just normal speed camera signs.

Hold on - a helicopter and then a car dispatched, do you think they will do that for me if I report my bike nicked. !
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Only if they have your number and from what you say the car did not stop to get it.

I'd find it unlikely that you'll be summoned, the chopper was probably after something else more important like a stolen car, or someone running away from cops.
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Bri H it's a £100 now and one of my mates got a £400 fine and 2 week ban for a 102 mph and the ban was two weeks cause he drive for his job so he had to take his holidays to serve the ban.

still wouldn't pay for more than a few minutes running the chopper?

Soz......mobile speed camera park on the only safe overtaking spot for miles, told the judge that the so called safety camera partnership were actually making the road more dangerous as by taking away the opportunity to overtake in safety (the van was parked on an overtaking lane) forcing drivers to overtake on narrow twisty roads with blind corners etc etc
I had had a chat with a few of my local police officers who completely agreed with me, shame the judge didn't

Complete fabrication, I didn't make it up!

there's no white blocks on the Helmsley road from stokesley .
so if thats the road you were on you'll be fine.
If I wanted to make a life-long career out of
