On a trackday...........

Is it better to be the fastest in the slow group or slowest in the fast?

Reckon you'd learn more about your braking and turn in points if you were at the back of a fast group, which should improve your skills.

Suppose it all depends what you want from a track day - just a massive grin or to improve. If it's grin factor then just enjoy yourself at the front of the slow group - no pressure that way.
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

You could be accused of wrongly being in the slow group to the annoyance of the slow yins but i doubt that the fast group would be annoyed at you being at the back of their group
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike

I don't think that the question should be "is it best?", start in the slow group and if you feel like you are lots faster than the others, and would benefit from having faster riders to learn from, just ask if its possible to be put into the next group up. Theres bound to be someone in that group that's getting in the way of everyone and would benefit from being in a slower group.

As long as you're having fun and not preventing others from doing the same does it really matter ??

I am happy he has proved me right, the most important bit is to be fastest on the bends, like the BMW destroyed by FazerĀ  :rollin
