Fazer8 or 1000?!
#1
Afternoon,
I'm on the verge of getting myself a newish Fazer8. But I can't help but be tempted in wanting the 1000. That's until I got some insurance quotes (the difference is ridiculous )
Is there a big difference between the 2?

Basically I have an MT-07 at the moment (which I love ) but I just need something with a bit of fairing that's still heaps fun to ride and can eat up the miles, in comfort and a bit of style. The faser seems perfect.

Thoughts?!?

Cheers guys and gals.

I would think the fazer 8 would be a brilliant bike, big engine, loads of go,, buuuuutttttt the thou is a monster,,if you twist the right hand grip that is,,if you don't want fast fast acceleration then the 8 will be good.

If it is the thou gen2 then find a 09 or later or a gen 1 fazer

I got a fully tweaked Gen 1 which would be perfect for what your after. Take a look in the for sale section Tongue
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

I think the FZ8 is almost the same weight as the FZ1 yet without as much power so in that respect you may as well have the Thou although I believe the fueling on the FZ8 is much better than the FZ1 so none of the snatchy throttle that the FZ1 has.

No snatchy throttle on my FZ1, it's very smooth so don't let that put you off. Only the early bikes had that problem and it's fixable anyway.

Thanks for all your replies.
Going to arrange a test ride on both on Friday. I'm feeling I'm swaying towards the 8 mainly because of slightly better fuel economy and insurance!

So I'm looking at a 12 Reg Faser8 (with no mods) with 12000 miles 1 prev owner for £4895 (prob £5000 on the road). They have offered me £3300 for my Mt-07 (non abs) with 6000 miles on the clock, which I think is quite reasonable.

What do people think about that? Any help would be much appreciated.

Surely theyll advertise your mt07 for about £4500 as they are in high demand...that gives them £200 wiggle room with the next buyer & they still make a grand.....i know they have overheads etc but id at least wiggle that £200 back outta them and get £3500.

I dunno about the fz8....like the fz1 they were a bit overpriced anyway.....what are they new though...8k???.

Those MT09 Tracers are only 8k new. I reckon the Fazer 8 would have to be less or it just wont sell any.

1000 is a beast, but FZ8 Fazer has better steering.

If you commute and filter in town get FZ8.
