New bike

In celebration of getting a new job , I bought myself a new  bike today ( Moto Guzzi V7 café racer ) on a pcp deal as a  2nd  bike , it will be ready to pick up in 2 weeks ready for the start of summer .

Love the look of those, quite tempted myself as something gentler paced and different. But from what I'm told, beware! ACF everything straight away, and keep it spotless, well away from winter salt!

Good tip Nick , it is stunning looking , shaft driven , spoked wheels , 22 litre chrome tank ( over 300 miles to a tank ) not that I got it for long distances that's what the  Fazer is for , less than 180 kg , low seat ideal for a short arse like me been looking at a few for a while , I was also looking at the Yamaha xvs 950  need to keep it in top condition in order to get the maximum value when I decide to trade it in  3 years time . I  was looking for something completely different from the Fazer  .  I  went for the PCP option instead of HP as its the better option if you plan to change it in a few years . It is last years model instead of this years but will still be on a 15 plate , I will lose 1 month off the 2 year warranty , Price £ 6999 instead of the £ 8500 for the new model , £ 1000 deposit and £ 107 per month for the next 3 years , and hopefully Mike is working his magic on the Fazer tomorrow .

Can't wait Slim , Wife will be surprised when I pick it up , haven't told her yet , Bike nights at Weston , Riders café at Bridge water when I take it to Mine head , trips around Chew Valley and Cheddar , and up to Bibury .

more pics from todays first ride  . The racer sounds fantastic on the move and even better when stopped  in traffic with the engine throbbing away  , it drew lots of appreciative looks  i fell in love with it on St Johns Lane just down the road from Fowlers , i put 80 miles on it ,  I rode it down the A38 to Bridgewater , stopped at Riders for a coffee , then headed to Cheddar , up through the gorge dodging goats , over the Mendips and past Chew valley .
The telegraph review said it was slow to steer due to the bars dropping down and pushing the rider forward , rubbish i'm no racer and i found the handling and cornering excellent due to the bike being nimble and light , its also very torquey accelerating past traffic effortlessly and up to 80mph in 4th gear at 7k ,the gearing is very tall 35mph in first at 5k , i mainly used 2nd and 3rd  gear and was cruising between 5 - 6 k , more than enough speed for real roads , i found it surprisingly comfortable despite the riding position . I never got into 5th gear and was cruising at 70mph . I initially found slow manouvering not so easy but that was just a case of getting used to the clutch and the sound of the engine .
The only fault was the left mirror , i decided to adjust it in Burnhamon sea  as i couldn't see behind on that side , and then found the mirror kept working loose , which was a bit distracting , when i stopped in Riders i checked the toolkit,  no spanner or pliers, so I couldn't tighten the mirror ,I had to wait until I got home , I have put a small adjustable spanner in the toolkit for the next ride in case it works loose .  I have booked the first service for 2 months time which is due AT 700 miles , the 2nd service is due at 6000 miles not annually . I would recommend anyone booking a demo ride with there local dealers .

I confessed to the wife after 3 days  :rolleyes [size=78%] , she says she was more annoyed that i waited 3 days to tell her rather than a i bought the bike . [/size]
Its gonna cost , she wants a new ring [/size][size=78%] , thats the price you pay for someone to keep you warm at night .[/size]
I am planning to go to WSM bike night thursday , weather permitting , if anyone is heading that way .
