Just wanted to ask if anyone had problems parking the bike at work? When i got my fazer 6 weeks ago, i parked it in the work car park around the back of the building, its a small car park but its for employees. I was asked by a manager not to park there because the bike takes a car space away from a car driver and was asked if i could park in the warehouse yard where some other employees park their car. It was suggested i park next to a big rubbish container. There is no car parking space there and i was a bit worried that when the binmen come to empty that my bike might get damaged. So i parked instead in an end spot where there is a gap between 2 spaces, but no actual extra bay. I came out of work on friday and there was a note on my bike saying do not park there again.
How would all you feel about this if it were you?
I had something like this, I just said ok ill use the car in future so they changed their mind. the trouble is we have more vehicles than spaces so at least four us us use bikes. I a fifth turns up were buggered as there are only four spaces for bikes.
a bird in the hand poops on the wrist
Find that manager's car and stick a note on it saying don't park there again as it takes away space for three motorcycles. :lol
:agree

Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.
The last place I'd park is in a car space because dozy cunts think the space is empty when they don't see a car and pull in too quickly and smack into the bike and knock it over. Is there no where else out of the way where you'd be happy leaving it?
If I park in a car space, I'll always park it at the front of the space so they can see it quicker
the night i was born, lord the moon stood a fire red., my poor mother her crying,
she said the gypsy was right, and she fell right dead
I park mine in a space just big enough for a bike "behind" double yellow lines outside my reception, ever since they took away the bike parking bay and made it the smoking area!!! mokin

Makes no logic saying it takes away a space for a car ------- what a twat, there is no way I would be parking next to the bin, he seems to have a "thing" against bikes.
If it were me I would be parking IN the wharehouse
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
They've made one at my work, as they realise that they take up a lot less room, and There's up to 15 bikes parked In spaces for 5 cars.
Some bosses are just too stupid for their own good!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
My work has separate spaces for bikes, motorbikes and even disabled, but then, I was there when they were asking about certain spaces and being on the safety committee and wanting a motorbike space, made them see sense and accommodate everyone.
Personally, I'd ask him if he could allocate the space where you got the 'ticket' and the one next to it for bike / motorbike parking, I wouldn't just say motorbikes! and he may lean better if you can go round your work and ask everyone else if they can suggest a solution within your parking area.

Why don't you move his desk out beside the bins and park your bike in his office :lol

It then becomes a building insurance liability because of the fuel in the tank!

Was he the senior manager or atleast in charge of parking? If couldn't find an area I was happy to fit it in, I'd continue using a car space until it became an issue for more than one idiot.
His argument is weak, arrive by car or bike the space is yours for the taking.
Would he have the same attitude toward a reliant robin.
Four employees Four bikes 1 car space
Four employees Four cars 4 car space.
Perhaps they could provide traffic cones which could be used to close bay for bikes only as soon as bike takes it.
Women have chocolate men have bikes.....

Hmm . . . Tricky one! I've had my share of parking issues in the past.
Do you work for a smallish private company, if you do It's probably the MD's decision if you are allowed to park on his 'property'. Although legally they need to provide safe and adequate facilities- as in Punkstig’s HSE link. Would kicking up a fuss put your neck on the Block? If so it’s probably not worth bothering about. Might be worth speaking (politely) to the head honcho and asking if they can find you a spot as a valued employee, insert :b here!
If you work for a large multinational or a public sector organisation, I'd open a can of whoop ass on them. How dare they rape your parking rights like this, speak to a union rep, speak to HR, DEMAND treatment equal to that of the cagers!!! Send a strongly worded email to as many of the middle management f*ckers as you can, there must be an old biker among them who'll champion your case! Or . . . Is there anywhere secure/local you can park, a 10mins walk in the morning can set you up for the day
Treat everything in life the way a dog would- if you can't eat it or foc it, forget it.
I had this with a company that I used to work for, I tried explaining that it was a PARKING space and not a CAR PARKING space but to no avail, so I parked it where they wanted and sure enough a works delivery driver knocked it over. It was fixed and then the bosses son knocked it over. So two claims against the company insurance!
It was at this point I went nuclear and had the mother of all rage fuelled tantrums. I ended up with permission to park back where I originally parked it and what's more the company put a folding metal bollard in the space so my bike could not be knocked over.

They still have the larger parking space in front of my reception that used to fit 4-5 bikes with a metal post in the middle to stop cars parking in it.
But some miserable twat in accounts said people were "flicking ash" on their car further up in the smoking bay, although i believe it was more the smell of smoke when they had their window open.
So they swapped the smoking section, with the safe bike parking space, just to please the miserable feckers.
Not only is the new bike space smaller, only taking 3 bikes max, the bastards then decided to shove a cycle rack inside it as well for the spandex brigade!
In fairness though, i can now have a care free snout whilst swinging my arms around with all the space in the world, with no fear of being knocked over because of the metal post. mokin :rolleyes
Meanwhile my bike is right next to reception now, tucked behind yellow lines, and covered by the window bay of the building, and some metal posts near a fire exit.
A new security guard asked me to move it the other day and a polite "fuck off" seemed to work a treat, and i've not been bothered about it since. .

got to admit I haven't read every single post on this but my personal experience has taught me that motorcycle parking can be a nasty business. Rational reasoning and logicality that we all take for granted unfortunately doesn't apply in the world of motorcycle parking.....and don't ask me how I know.
The theory, or at least the only way I can make any sense of motorcycle parking problems is usually caused by prejudiced mind-set's against motorcycles/motorcyclists and as with any form of prejudiced thinking and discrimination it originates from fear and weakness.
Motorcycles are viewed as 'bad' whilst cars are viewed as 'good'......And yes ok maybe motorcycling did have a rebellious image in the Ace Café ton up boys days but go down to any Rockers Reunion in Brighton and you'll see these guys past retirement age are as civilised as people get. Sportsbike 70's era bikers are mature people now,...some with established careers and hard earned and dare I say riding well fitted out adventure bikes. Yes times have changed.
But what's tragic is that in this anti discrimination/pro-'human rights' obsessed country - 'vulnerable road users' ie us motorcyclists are put at worse risk than we already are by being forced to park our bikes in the more dangerous parking locations instead of the more safe parking locations.
Obviously its important to get along with everybody and that's the best way of achieving what we want but sometimes as in the case with m/cycle parking there are people in society who simply can't get along with every one so weather its motorcycle parking issues or racial issues there will never be any winners with these types of people.
The road to success is always under construction.....
Happiness is finding you have another gear left....
If there's no solution then its not a problem.
I've been lucky, just parked it next to the bike sheds. Always had a security camera pointing at it and the current company even pays me extra for not using a car.
