It was a bank transfer from one personal account to another, no credit card or paypal involved. Payment to the bank had a marker saying what it was for.
Money was available and has been transferred to another account. So all looks ok on that front.

Dvla said to post him the filled in V5, but send a covering letter to them.

All seems ok. Thanks very much for all the replies.

may as well send the v5 with the bike, in an envelope tied to thebars or under seat, or just give to courier ensuring iit's accounted for on the collection/delivery papers

Ask him to bring a copy of his passport and another form of ID. Have a word with local CID ?
I used to not give a foc, then I discovered Red Bull and now I don't give a flying foc !!!

Well Sinto,  amongst all the excitement of this and a busy few days at work, what I hadn't realised was that the courier has been arranged, but then they call us to arrange a time suitable to all 3 parties, and as they were only booked on friday they couldn't do today, so collection will be later in werk or next weekend now. I'll report back when all is done. I hope the purchase of his next bike is easier than this sale!

UPDATE...
Courier couldn't make the journey worthwhile to keep the price sensible, so the buyer hired a van and collected the bike himself. Nice bloke, all was good, I worried unnecessarily!

Fantastic :-)
I'm real glad there is some decent guys in the world, unfortunately there are some bad yins as well and makes us all be very cautious when things seem to be dodgy.
Really pleased that it all worked out and you got your money, he got his bike and we all had our views. :-)

I'll have a double Jack Daniels honey with coke on the rocks for my input please :rollin
