So, my current OEM exhaust is blowing... I am considering attempted to remedy this using some of the exhaust putty stuff, however as it's pay day tomorrow I'm also kinda tempted to treat myself (and my bike) to a new one...
So far I'm liking the look of the Fuel exhausts and it just about fits in my budget (really a max of £150). I'm not looking for anything too loud or performance enhancing (though obviously that would be an added bonus) and I don't want to have to worry about it being road legal etc (I'm a bit of a boring foccer like that) and so the Fuel ones seem to fit the bill.
That said, I wondered if there were any other options I should be considering? Lets be honest, anything is going to sound better than the OEM one but as I'm not going to get to test any out, feedback from you wonderful lot would be great
I used the putty on mine, it cured the blow, but still an annoying rattle inside, so going to buy myself a new one as well, so would be interested to hear people opinions, i have seen some reasonable priced Fuel cans and Delkevic Cans on ebay.
Start here, my current one is the 4th one down, as i also have a Quill can as well.
Probably not your cup of tea, although it is all stamped and legal.

After market downpipes, but they were already on the bike and even my mechanic couldn't identify what brand they were?
This is the same exhaust but without the baffle in.
I've contemplated it 'cos it sounds lovely but my neighbours will hate me even more and without the baffle it obviously becomes illegal and the noise will draw unwanted attention from the police. It's noisy enough as it is though to be honest.

In most motorcycles all or most of the exhaust system is visible and may be chrome plated as a display feature. Aftermarket exhausts may be made from steel, aluminium, titanium, or carbon fiber.
Motorcycle exhausts come in many varieties depending on the type of engine and its intended use. Just replaced my original exhaust with a second hand Fuel one off fleabay (£120 for the complete system) the original went the way of all of them, rotted underneath, my 1st fix was to clean it all up, get some ally sheet and form it around the pipe to fit, bug some gun gum on and rivet it all together then a lot of paint, it worked for about a year, got through an MOT test as well, but, the alluminium didn't rot but the steel did, so, took off the ally plating, cleaned it all up and had it welded, which, apparently, was a sod of a job as the metal left was so thin, the welder was just eating it away but in the end, it was done and passed the following MOT but with frowns from the tester and mutterings about no chance next year matey! Well, that time aproaches, so, time for stainless, so should outlast the bike :-)
I tried it once and wasted a whole afternoon, the metal is too thin. You start sanding / drill polishing to prep for paint and the holes appear faster than you imagine and it's really tough to weld apparently. I went through a load of hassle and once it was refitted to the bike, it was still blowing a little and was blowing a lot 2 weeks later. Bought some motad venom pipes and have never looked back.
I was giving the down pipes a clean up earlier then finally decided to take the baffle out of the Moto GP exhaust and see what it was like.
Got the day off so went for a quick 20 mile spin and it was FOCCIN LOUD!
Although it had a lovely tone to it the volume was just way too much, and it was even worse when I went down side roads with houses, I was being stared at 100 metres before reaching people.
So, I've decided that while the baffle is out I'm gonna widen each of the 6 holes at the end by about 2mm each then refit it so I can have the best of both worlds but at least be legal.
For anyone interested I use Optiglanz to clean my down pipes with, if you give it a go use 2 pairs of rubber gloves and eye protection, it's nasty shit.
