But anyway, this is what got me to the Versys 650, tall riding position and supermoto type ergonomics, long travel suspension, good handling, ok not the most powerful but still fun.

This is a good video.....ok the guy aint going supersonic but the bike is hardly slow now is it.

Good scenery too plus i like thise tunnels. 8)

& an adjustment to seat and arm position.

It doesn't look much as though he's ever going above 80 to me? Not my type of road unfortunately - looks lovely, and I'd love it on a supermoto or something, but I wouldn't be able to stretch the legs of my 10!

That's all im after Joe, maybe max out at 100 and then back to 80....but on small roads.....not as smooth as that video though, a few more potholes and patches. I like exploring now so im often on little B roads out in the sticks.

I will miss the power of the Thou.....and im glad i did it just for the experience......but the rest will make up for that........if i ever get big time smoked by a FZ1 though i might change my mind again :lol ......unless im on a straight then i wont feel so bad.

wasn`t going to get involved in this thread as i think bike choice is a personal thing, anyway we all know the bike for noggy is a carberd fazer, not that hard to work out..... :rolleyes ....he`s probably being a great help to mrs noggy now as the big day approaches and we have another little nogster in the world, who knows it might put a wee smile on the foccers face  :lol

so, whilst hes busy getting in the way it gives us foccers who know, time to choose his bike without him getting in the way  :thumbup .....a quick flick through the bay that is evil and i find a bike with noggys name written all over it.........job done  Big Grin

Thats no good to him, its red. He needs a nice slow blue or silver one. He can`t have a black one either as they look too nice.

That got me googling and I didn't know Yamaha had announced the price of the bike - £8150!

Hmm, I wonder what it would be here in Ireland. Nothing on Yamaha's Irish site, I must check with Danfay.

go on youtube, type in '2015 yamaha FJ-09 - first ride and review (MT-09 TRACER)' and watch/listen to that triple roaring, the yank doing the commentry is a tad annoying, but its a great review and is seriously getting me tempted to get one !! ( sorry, not i.t savvy enough to put the linky thingy up  :pc  )

theres also a vid up of the Tracer with the Akropovic exhaust on,sounds even better !!  :b

Thanks! You blink (for a few days.. okay.. weeks) and so much happens in the bike scene! Great bunch or reviews, no one seems to have anything negatives to say so far.

I have to say the rear end is a bit meh, bigger head lights (or both lights coming on together, like the foxeye) would have been nicer, and bigger / wider front fairing - but yeah it does look very tasty overall.

Some of the bikes you've mentioned have been reviewed in the latest issue of bike magazine Noggy. The new Versys 650 got a really good review, looks alright not very interested myself but it got 4/5 stars which is really good and the write up was singing its praises highly. The MT-09 tracer, that is a bike that I am interested in. I wouldn't buy one, I couldn't afford one just now but in my opinion it looks excellent in certain colours and has all of the real world attributes that make a bike great. It got 5/5 stars on the review and they were hyping it up just as much as the mt-07 that everyone couldn't stop talking about. The other bike that got 5/5 was the new triumph tiger 800 XCx which is also amazing apparently although more expensive than the Yamaha. I think the Triumph can tackle some proper off road if needed though where the MT-09 tracer to me looks like a tall road going bike only. They actually mention the FZS 600 later in the mag when talking about the price of Tracers.

Thanks yama ill have to buy Bike then, ive got an MCN wich has a reiew of the versys in it but im saving it for the weekend when my wife goes into the hospital so that i have some good readables.

MT07 still features highly.....but they do look a bit small and are less of an all rounder.

Tracer......well we at least know what type of bikes we can maybe get in a few years time eh mate, once they've come down in price a bit.....i look forward to seeing some tricked up examples.......only thing im not a fan of is the generic front fairing.

The versys look a bit bland too, i dont like that they've now gone and stuck one of the generic front fairings on it too......ok the old one was fugly but it was unique.... dont get me wrong i would love something more bling with a trick factory paint scheme and lots of shiney stuff....mr frosties Brutale or one of those MT09's with the fancy paint and race blocks. But back in the real world i just need a bike that ill enjoy riding and is cheap.

P.s....i would need a Leo Vince exhaust though :b

I actually thought you had the V strom, i must apologise, is it the 650 you have then?, that's very kind of you to offer i must say......id be tempted but i tend not to like borrowing other folks stuff, certainly not their pride and joys........but maybe youd be tempted with a shot of the FZ in exchange?.

I actually remember when you changed over...i couldnt remember what bike it was but i do remember thinking oh he wont like that after a fazer 600.....far to adventure orientated......but i knew foc all about the Versys at the time and it looks adventure whilst in reality is all road......but good at it so it seems.

its the 650 i have but i still have the fazer. to be honest, when i first got the versys i thought it was a mistake as its tall and gangly and awkward. after a while tho, it grows on you and the fazer feels odd now. once my manflu lets up we can meet up somewhere and you can get a better idea of whether it suits you or not.
